Snow Condition Update – 12/11/2012

With a winter storm approaching on the horizon, the winds are kicking in on the mountain. Windbuff snow can be found all over the mountain today. I found myself playing around on the Avy chutes off of 22. But I began to hear of other places around the mountain that was seeing the same soft chalky conditions. Upper dry creek next to Climax, signline off of Climax and the hump in between the Wipeouts and Scotty’s. (Just to name a few) If you’re more of a chair 3 or chair 5 skier, the groomers are amazing! It’s hero groomed conditions! But you can still find good windblown stashes off of those chairs too! Canyon had some of the best corduroy snow of the year this morning. And it felt like I had all the runs to myself! So get out there and enjoy the epic Mammoth conditions!

Ski of choice (groomers): Volkl RTM 84

Ski of choice (off piste): Blizzard Bonifide

Ski of choice (playful rocker): Line Sir Francis Beacon or Armada TST

Please remember early season obstacles do exist and please ski with care!
