Mammoth Mountain Snow Conditions 12-17-16

December 18, 2016

After days of wind, snow and rain it all came together this weekend. It took a while for everything to open up but when it did it was well worth the wait. The best snow was up top, especially in the Chair 23 area where the snow was drier and less wind affected. Lower and mid mountain had some good turns but you had to look for them. Plenty of spots were wind crusted or just plain funky. Some of the best turns of the day were off Chair 12 where the snow was light and consistent.

The rest of the week looks great with cold Temps and sunny skies. All three lodges are open but Main Lodge has the most snow and the best
conditions with about 4 feet of base at Chair 1 and a good 10 feet up top, so take out your good skis and rip it up!
